About the National Road
President Thomas Jefferson signed legislation for the first federally funded highway in 1803 – and the rest is history! The Road is commonly known as US Route 40 – an All American Byway. The National Road in Ohio crosses 10 counties but only of the counties participate. Licking County has 32 miles and what’s more All American than a Yard Sale? The sale traditionally runs 5 days. This year, in Licking County from Reynoldsburg to Gratiot, the sale is May 29 – June 2, 2013 but Friday, May 31 & Saturday, June 1 are the best days to find yard sales! We say Friday & Saturday is a Super Weekend of Sale with more sales on Saturday because folks work during the week. Please note this Facebook page is only for Licking County, Ohio. However, others do post to it from other counties in Ohio. Again, please remember, all of the 10 counties in Ohio do not participate that the road runs through.
